Books

I have three shelves of these books that were given to my grandfather as school prizes. They are all dated 1906-7 and are bound in leather. Such beautiful books, but a little heavy going....!!!
I love books, these are lovely. Also lovely lighting.

Nice golden tones. They look like they're in excellent condition!

They make awesome photo props! I'd take my shot stacking them on top of each lying down and then twisting them round like a spiral shape... So many ways really to shoot these amazing books.

@joysfocus Thank you - they are in excellent condition - sad to say, an indication of lack of use!!

@claudiet Thank you!

@quietpurplehaze Thank you - yes they are - the covers are made from leather too!

@megpicatilly

An ignoble thought crosses my mind that they also must be rather valuable.

Heavy in more ways than one. It's good to find a use for these old things though isn't it?

check occasionally for book mites!! love golden tones here

@quietpurplehaze Possibly, but they have a prize plate inside with name and date etc, which may detract from value? Not sure!

@suesouthwood Yes it is - couldn't part with them - more clutter!!

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Hadn't thought of that - thank you I will!

@megpicatilly

That I couldn't say - it could possibly detract or perhaps the opposite!

The tooled leather is a mark of their epoch and genre. An interesting heritage.

@s4sayer thank you Margo. Yes, modern books aren't made like this!

And they look in such lovely condition too. They look like they have been treasured. Love the light on them, gives them a nice golden glow, like they're magic, but then, aren't all books magic? Whisking us off to far away places for wonderful adventures. Fav 😊

@milaniet @darlenet I agree. Not often you would find books like this in High Street bookshops!

@joysabin They are in very good condition - I suppose because they probably have never been read! I do get them out to feel the pages and smell their 'oldness'!
