These toys belonged to my parents - panda belonged to my mother and the bear to my father. I am not sure how they ended up with me, but suspect they will survive the much needed clearing out of this house!
Oh they are beautiful You definitely have to keep them.
Have you read the book The Velveteen Rabbit by Marjorie Williams? It was one of my girls favourite books when they were children and we still have a copy of it.
The quote from it made in my photo of Special Ted by Casablanca @casablanca says it all.
“Real isn't how you are made,' said the Skin Horse. 'It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real.'
Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.”
This is a great shot, such characters and lovely detail and I like the black background. Lovely to have them. Fav
'We've been through a lot together' - they seem to be saying :-)
Love this pair. My daughter (age 54) has an almost matching bear from her 1st Christmas that's been stitched and re-stitched many times. "Fur" is pretty well gone, too. How wonderful to have these still.
@onewing Babs, I have just been looking back at your photos and missed the Australian Passport. What a brave lady you are and what a beautiful story. Zoe clearly loved this little bear and he must be a very special little bear for her. Thank you for the quote from 'The Velveteen Rabbit'. I have read it but had forgotten the story. It was good to have a reminder. I have a little velveteen rabbit but he is tucked away in the cupboard. Perhaps it is time he came out again.
@lynnz Thank you so much Lynn and for the fav. I found them very difficult to photograph - not sure why, but not as easy as I was expecting. They do have sweet faces!! Thank you for the follow too. Following your project.
