The Letter by megpicatilly

The Letter

Wasn't there a film called 'The Letter'? Trying to have a clear out and found letters to my mother from my father - and vice versa. They have been in the attic for the last 30 years, how can I get rid of them?!! More junk to keep!
A nice perspective , do you do scrape booking on family Hx they could be kept there .

You can never have too much "junk"!! Have to keep them. Lovely perspective for your shot too.

@dawnee That sounds interesting, can you tell me more?
March 25th, 2017
@cmp The longer I keep things the more difficult it is to get rid of them!!

Not junk, family artifacts and history!!! You could put together in an album. Lovely photo

Makes for a fantastic image!

This is family history! I did try scanning photos and storing them on a hard drive to save space - and then the hard drive became corrupted - don't try it for these!

@30pics4jackiesdiamond Thank you! There is nothing that interesting in the letters, but really cannot get rid of them!
March 25th, 2017
@blueace A little bit of social history! Thank you.
March 25th, 2017
@cottiac I have so much junk that would make for a good photograph!!!!
March 25th, 2017
@fbailey Oh no how awful - did you manage to get them back?
March 25th, 2017
@milaniet The older I get the more I enjoy things like this!
March 25th, 2017
Leave for grandchildren to sort!!!
March 25th, 2017
@30pics4jackiesdiamond First grandchild due in September!!!! There will be so much for him/her to sort!!!!

@megpicatilly he's that is. The computer shop put them back on my computer's memory. This became full so I transferred to new memory stick which developed a malfunction. Shop transferred to yet another stick - think I need new laptop!

Look forward to seeing it then!

Sorry, predictive text - above should read 'yes thanks'!
March 25th, 2017
@fbailey This digital age is mostly so good, but nothing is 100% safe. I back up everything onto two external hard drives, but even that is not safe!
March 25th, 2017
@cottiac How long have you got?!!!!!
March 25th, 2017
@fbailey Don't you just love predictive text!!!!
March 25th, 2017
@fbailey Now this is sad - I take one of those hard drives on holiday with me - just in case......!!!!!
March 25th, 2017
@megpicatilly Forever for you 😊

You can't get rid of anything like this. They are irreplaceable. The problem I find is that the longer you keep things the more difficult it is. It's all part of who you are.
March 25th, 2017
You can't. What an incredibly cool find. Treasure them :)
March 25th, 2017
@cottiac you might regret that!!!!!
March 25th, 2017
@suesouthwood 30 years is a long time - I had them poised to be ripped but couldn't do it!!!
March 25th, 2017
@paul10 I will have to. Just cannot bring myself to rip them up!! Leave them to the children to deal with!!!!

I keep trying to reduce the amount of family photos etc...and consistently achieve nothing. I become engrossed in what I'm trying to reduce, put such to one side for keeping/consideration and move to more of the same. Haven't looked at such for years. Not convinced that it's the best use of my time right now. Pragmatism vs Practicality.

Lovely photo idea. I too have stacks of old letters. Sadly no one but my grandmother could read her handwriting!

Love is timeless

What a lovely keepsake.
March 26th, 2017
Definitely can not get rid of them...and I think they are far from junk. I wish I had little keepsakes like this. A great family treasure. Love your pov too.
March 26th, 2017
Definitely something worth keeping
March 26th, 2017
Hmmm I'm not so sure!
March 26th, 2017
A difficult decision, but it think worth keeping. The next generation will probably not be so considerate.
