Thomas Smythe by megpicatilly

Thomas Smythe

There are three memorials to the Smythe family in St Mary's church, Ashford. This is of Thomas Smythe (1522-1591) who was the son of a Yeoman and Clothier. He was later Queen Elizabeth's customs officer and Lord of the Manor of Ashford. The Queen then presented him with the manor of Westenhanger, Kent.

I am not confident with black and white images, but felt this memorial might just work.
