Half Dead...or Half Alive?

I was most upset to see the sorry state of this favourite American Redwood,that is growing in a garden in North Warwickshire. I was sorely tempted to knock on the owners door to ask what has happened to it,although I suspect last years extreme temperatures and drought may have something to do with it.

How strange. We had a tree that we thought wouldn't survive the frost but started sprouting again. It's always sad when trees die :o( xx
