For Throw Back Thursday. This is from last spring before I was on 365.This is my rescue mouse. We found him in the basement a day after my hubby found a dead adult mouse.(Mom) A tiny baby mouse with his eyes closed just sitting in the middle of the basement floor. I contacted my wildlife rehabber friend and found out how to care for it.I fed the little guy with an eyedropper every 3 hours for a week. Then I mashed up food for him for another two weeks. Then I cried when I set him free.I took this pic right before the release.I set his habitat in the window. He is looking out the window to check out the big wide world.Hope he is out there making lots of baby mice! Maybe he will come back to the basement this winter to keep warm.I should have painted a toenail or something.lol.
oh my goodness, I remember once finding a mouse trapped in a milk bottle, back in the day when such things existed, I took it for a long walk and let it go. these days though......well I don't think i want to tell you what I do to them ;)
Well here we are total opposites. I'm terrified (and hate that I am) of mice. It's one of my more annoying hangups as I know there is no reason to be. So I'm in awe of you for being so kind! Jim has actually mouse-proofed our Beaver Island house which is in the middle of the woods, just because he thinks it's not worth the hassle of having to deal with me if one were to get in.
Great shot of him!
I have to say, having had a houseful of uninvited mice for a while, I'm quite happy to not see any of them running around for a very long time!
Aww! You big softie! What a lovely story and hopefully a happy ending. In the past we have raised orphaned kittens, hedgehogs, mice and ducklings with varying degrees of success.
Oh what a lovely capture...looks like it is from a children's book...which BTW you could write a lovely little story about this. Such a sweet and loving gesture to take care of that delicate little creature. Most would just have either put his outisde to fend for himself or ...worse! Bless you!!
@tremerryn The only way we got rid of them was to move out for a month...
Keep all food sealed away in containers/cupboards they can't get in. Keep everything scrupulously clean... We had humane traps too, but you need somewhere far enough away to take them. Good luck!
