Today we walked part of The Franciscan Way. It goes from Florence to Rome....the 12km stretch from Spello to Assisi was enough for us! The way is shown by blue and yellow markers like you can see on the fence post. There were a few steep climbs and we were very happy to catch a taxi back 😜 I don’t know how I did the walk through Spain two years ago! (With a pack!) 😱
Wow. But how awesome to be part of this all over again, albeit for such a short while. You had done so much training for the long pilgrimage and you were also mentally prepared for it. Now you are on a lovely sightseeing holiday. Very different mental attitudes I think.
@seacreature I really wanted to do this walk Desi and I’m very glad I did, but I struggled and I really can’t conceive how I did that walk two years ago.
@narayani We traveled with friends for 6 weeks so we leased a car and drove from Madrid to Segovia, Lugo, Santiago de Compostela and Noia, before crossing into Portugal for a while. From there we headed back through Merida, Seville, Cadiz, Jerez, Ronda, Juzcar, Granada, Cordoba, Toledo and into Barcelona where we dropped of the car. We trained through to Paris (with several stops on the way) to fly home. It was a great trip, but no where near long enough :)
A beautiful walk, I can see why you were keen to do it! A little bit of training and you’d be able to do that walk again. I love to hike on holiday, it balances out all, the eating and drinking!
