My brother is a trained pastry chef ( http://365project.org/nellycious/365/2011-06-04). Being the one witness from starting out (with his dry oatmeal raisin cookies) to creating his masterpieces after finishing culinary school, I usually am the first who gets to taste his pastries. That means I get to be the victim with his earlier bad ones, but I can say that I am lucky to taste the limited experiments he's been making recently. This means also that I never had to enter another bakery for several years.
Yesterday, me and The Missus started craving for chocolate cake and unfortunately, my brother was out. After much deliberation, for the first time in years, I walked to a nearby bakery and bought this "Chocolate Campfire".
It was good, but I still prefer my brother's cakes, because I know the tenderness and care he puts into each one. Most of all, they're free. :)
