The cutting is a Special Site of Scientific Interest (SSSI) there are areas of woodland, marsh and grassland where once common plants grow, these include green winged orchids, southern marsh orchid and cypress spurge. Green woodpeckers feed on the yellow meadow ants whoes hills cover the meadow areas. Sparrow hawks nest here but none of that can be found on a March walk but I did find 1 violet and 2 solitary bees.
