Aldercar and Lanley Mill Derbyshire

A second month of village signs, and some district and parish signs mainly outside Nottinghamshire.
I April last year I posted village signs of Nottinghamshire

Until the building of turnpike roads and the Industrial Revolution in the late 18th century the area that was to become Langley Mill was simply a crossing place on the river Erewash with a few houses and farmsteads. The three canals that used the river valley, Erewash1779, Cromford 1794 and Nottingham 1796 converged here.
