I've seen these at Christian Fields Nature Reserve in Lichfield - and even been dive-bombed by them, but they have never posed for me before.
So - voila.
There were so many butterflies of different varieties that I had plenty to record in the Big Butterfly Count 2015, which started last Friday. I've logged the whites and small tortoiseshell that were with me in the gardens of the hotel in Eastbourne and now I've made my first local entry.
May I please encourage you to join in. It's so important to keep track of our butterfly numbers and patterns of increase and decline - and apart from that, it's fun
