Zenit E circa 1974. by padlock

Zenit E circa 1974.

Best viewed in large but a picture of my first camera. Totally manual, heavy and made in Russia. The left dial allows you to pick the ISO for the film, you then look to get the exposure needle in the exposure circle as shown by the gap at the bottom of the left hand dial. You then read the shutter speed and f number of and set the shutter speed using the black dial to the right of the hot shoe. Set the lens, showing made in the USSR and click the shutter, far right button on the camera. By that time the subject has gone, fallen asleep or just given up!!!!!
Nice.

My first camera as a student was a Zenit-E. I later replaced it with a Pentax, but I loved the old Zenit. Heavy enough to use as a dangerous weapon if anyone tried to nick it! Brilliant.

I remember this camera. I once had an East German Edixa, that weighed a ton too! My favourite film camera was/is the Pentax MX, beautiful little 35mm, I still have two, one works! Thanks for sharing and rousing memories of how it was then!
