A quiet day today and I remembered that there were some wood carvings in a wood not far from me. Camera at the ready and of I went, sunshine and solitude. What a result, will have to visit again as I thought the light a little harsh but plenty of it. Anyway there were a number of carvings and loved the detail on this Roman soldier guarding the woods. Have a look at the "other" album for a modern take on The Lady of the Wood. Perhaps I found Arthur and his Queen!!!!!
What a find!!! Great capture. Who did the carvings? How wonderful that this adventure is available to you! Kind of a "Sherwood Forrest" kind of thing..
Wonderful find. Who'd have thought that would be in Broxbourne Woods? Well those living nearby I guess! Very good capture, I like the textures and colours on the carving.
@ivan Hi Ivan, There a re a series of carvings and all by a guy called Dan Cordell looking at his site he tours a round the Uk and undertakes commissions such as these in the woods.
This is really good. It's very well done. I'm not sure where Broxbourne Woods are exactly, but I remember visits to Verulamium and know the Romans were fairly active in the area.
