Otter at Paradise Wildlife Park with weed on nose!!
Went to Paradise Wildlife Park today so I could practice using the 100-400mm lens, which is a bit of a beast and not one I usually use. Have had mixed feelings about it for a while but thought I needed to bite the bullet and get use to it. Have to say I was more that happy with this result of what I think is an Asian Otter. Not sure he knew he had a lump of weed on his nose but I did have to smile when I looked at it on scree.
This is brilliant and an instant Fav. So much detail. I don't think I could handle a 400mm lens as it would be too heavy for me to walk around with. If I could only get used to using a tripod, I might manage it or maybe I should try a monopod.
Ha - Padlock it's brilliant!! Can I share it with the kids at school... our class is called 'Otter Class' and we have a dearth of pictures. Fav obviously and not to curry favour! :)
lovely detail is it canon 100-400mm curious as am looking for a longer telephoto have a 28-300mm but feel i need that little but extra for birds and smaller animals ... well even the biggies really. I am a Nikon girl though)
@suelaubscher With the 7D there is the crop factor of about 1.5 so in reality the 400 is 600m. This is the main reason for me using the two together as I have been looking at a 500mm, lots of money though and rather large.
Yes hefty equipment indeed, I'm friends with a couple and when we go on daytrips, the husband with his accompanying camera kit looks set for a long vacation. A contentious issue when they're flying off on their hols! Beautiful shot, I feel I could reach out and touch the coat.
This is incredible. I would love to have a telephoto. When I first read the title I thought you said otter weed on my nose! It must be getting late and I needsleep. Fav.
fabulous shot - loving the weed! I'm struggling with zoom lenses - borrowed one from the group whilst in Orkney, couldn't keep the beast still! Only way to get used to it is stick it on your camera and shoot only with that for a few weeks! I need to sort my neck out before I can do that!!!
