Female Kingfisher on Canal

Not the best but so pleased to get close to a Lady Kingfisher at the moment. This Lady occupies a certain stretch of a waterway and is very obliging. The weather was awful and the light wasn't good so this was shot with a 600mm lens, hand held with a high ISO. At least I got a shot.
Based on the conditions you were up against this is brilliant shot

@huvesaker Boo you don't tramp when stalking Kingfishers. You move with the grace of a leopard, you sting like a bee and you swear like a trouper when you bang you knee!

So how close to the birds do you manage to get?

@janturnbull Hi Janet, wonderful question. When I first started nearly 18 months ago I was using the full extent of a telephoto. (600mm) Now win getting to know the birds habits I am in some instances about 3metres. Also do not shoot from a baited hide but try and find the bird in the wild and photo it in situ. Before anyone jumps on me I know it is a section 1 bird and I do not disturb nor would I disturb the bird.

@padlock Thanks! I'm amazed they come within 3 metres - you must spend hours sitting still and quiet.
