Sometimes you just have to look. The day didn't start to well as most of the standing water was frozen. However we then found an open stretch of water and the Kingfisher was happily using the telephone wire as a perch.Not often have I seen it that high!!
It is a male and of you look closely you can see the lower beak is chipped or deformed.
