Memory Quilt
I just came across this quilt, which my mother-in-law, Doris Evelyn Shields, made into a skirt for me in the early seventies. The original quilt had been made by her mother, Jessie Emma May Smith, who was born in 1872, in Red Wing, Minnesota.

I was born in New Zealand but have lived on the west coast of Canada most of my life. I treasure my New Zealand roots...

What a beautiful heirloom. I love quilts, especially the old-fashioned, hand-pieced and hand-quilted ones. :-)
