@hoosierhokie They always cut them off that high above the ground. The base was too big for the man powered cross cut saws they used 130 years ago, plus a lot of redwoods have a hollow base like a cave inside. The top is a very productive huckleberry bush
Love the idea of using yourself to give perspective on the "stump". I also like the idea of hollowing it out and making a little playhouse- how cool would that be? Nice shot!
@olivetreeann We have several and one is hollow and has a half deck about four feet off the ground inside, with a ladder up to it. And a spruce growing up out of it. Another two have stairs carved into them with chainsaws and a deck built between them.
