Inside my empty bottle I was constructing a lighthouse while all the others were making ships.

Trying to do black and white without that function on my camera. The first three this month were taken with my phone, this with my camera in color then I chose B&W in iPhoto and it has a very different quality, maybe a bit more red or brown in the shades of grey?
I really like your composition. My camera has a B&W feature, but I usually just desaturate the photo in photoshop to get black and white. I guess I want to make sure I have the color shot in case I like it better. LOL This looks very good in B&W. The white caps on the water and the white of the building really balance out the picture.
@sarasdadandmom Our town, crescent city Ca is just on the Oregon border. Battery Point light is in Crescent City. Point saint George light is also here but out on a reef and north of here between us and Brookings Oregon
It does have sort of a sepia tone to it. I wonder if you tried converting it in Ribbet (free on-line) if you'd get different results. I'm not familiar with iPhoto but you might be able to adjust the exposure and contrast as well to get different results. That being said, I think this shot looks great as it is. Of course, I love lighthouses in b/w or color!
Thanks for sharing how you are taking the pictures. I too am trying B&W with this challenge really for the first time. It is challenging!
