Silk robes, old swords, water buffalo and buddha statues, stone lions, my house has something in every corner to remind me of when I went to Beijing Teacher's College with my husband. I was frequently lost and often stressed but I learned so much and had so many new friends and adventures that I'm sure people get sick of the conversations I start with, "when we lived in China"
I think any experience like that has a deep effect on us. My line is usually "On my first trip to Israel..." (or second or third depending on the topic!!), so I understand the reactions to "When we lived in China..." But how many people really get to do that- immerse themselves in a place for a long period of time. I love the shot of the two of you there!
Must have been quite an experience. A friend just completed about 9 years teaching at an international college in southern China. My father did a naval posting to Hong Kong and never stopped talking about it all his ;life!
