My Grandpa (Mom's Dad) on a day spent goofing around with his brother Clarence when they were both around 17. Lawrence was born in 1898, in Trout Creek, outside Cody Wyoming and was 65 when his first grandchild (me) was born.
The following note is from my uncle Donald
Dixie, this is your Grandpa, Lawrence Slack. The angora chaps that he is wearing are the ones my dad, Clarence, is wearing in the Charles Belden photo showing the string of cattle on the Pitchfork about 1921 or 22. Lawrence had loaned dad his chaps for the cold winter.
fascinating for me to look at these photos you're posting and think, "these are real people." well, were, I guess. But still, they're not characters from movies, for example.
