These are our fancy wedding clothing. We had been living together for a couple years and were moving to Custer a State Park to work for the Black Hills Playhouse for the summer. He was hired as an actor and they gave me a job as ticket booth/ snack bar worker since we were married. $50 every two weeks. Every other Monday off, working 8 Am to 1 AM the rest of the days. For that I figured maybe we really should be married, so we picked up my parents to be witnesses and drove to the Justice of the Peace and then three hours later called My husbands parents to let them know it was a done deal. Not our kindest decision and one we have had to do a lot of grovel lung to be forgiven for.
Happy Anniversary, Dixie. long marriages seem to be more and more scarce. You may have a few regrets but we all do. Longevity, hard work when the going was not always easy, is what you and yours will remember. Awesome photo.
Happy Anniversary!!! And there aren't an overabundance of us, it seems, that can say we've been married for that long and longer!!! -- 54 1/2 years for us........ Great story of your wedding day.
There is something to be said for practical reasons! and a lot to be said for not overcomplicating the preparations. A little (or a lot) of grovelling made up for a lots of other aspects, I'm sure.
Well Happy Anniversary! If Dave will ever marry me, we'd do it in secret, with no family present! No fuss, very little money wasted on it, no fancy dress (something I could wear again!).
