Today I’m thankful for a good visit in 2017 with my mom while she was still alive, and for Tricia Reynolds for taking us to tour some of the memorials to the veterans of our various wars and the dream of a country worth dying for or living in. It is truly an amazing thing to lay my hand against the marble or see myself reflected with the ghosts of soldiers while remembering the veterans in my own family and community. I can wish we lived in a world where soldiers were unnecessary but I must always be grateful for having been born in the time, family, place and nation I was born in - and that only happened because of veterans of many wars.
