Mignonne, allons voir si la rose...

...Qui ce matin avoit desclose
Sa robe de pourpre au Soleil,
A point perdu ceste vesprée
Les plis de sa robe pourprée,
Et son teint au vostre pareil.

Pierre de Ronsard

I did find a lovely translation on PoemHunter.com:

See, Mignonne, hath not the Rose,
That this morning did unclose
Her purple mantle to the light,
Lost, before the day be dead,
The glory of her raiment red,
Her colour, bright as yours is bright?

Thank you Helene AND Allison! I was going to ask my neighbor, David, to translate that for me. He speaks French beautifully, and I also sent him your site to follow (though he's not a 365 er).

I looked at the beautiful web site you listed in your profile...is that all your photography?! Every photo is a feast for the eyes. Again, I asked David if he would translate it for me so I might know more. Thank you for sharing that!
