That's something you don't see everyday. Like Darrell, I never thought about the logistics of constructing them either. That pointy tower thing looks like a giant pencil!
@girlie the pointing tower thing in the middle of the picture is not easy to recognize on this picture but it's the obelisk place de la Concorde and it does look like a giant pencil :)
This is wonderful. Like many of the people who posted before I did, I have never even thought about how a ferris wheel was made. I guess I figured they were assembled in a factory some place. Thank you for sharing!
@fluffy did you like it? I went 2 years ago on a gorgeous sunny day after snow... yes it's avery yeear in december, january or something like that, and in the summer it's in the Tuileries garden near the Louvre. I did pictures from there http://tinyurl.com/328czfc
Fascinating, love these! It does look like a giant pencil in the middle! Oh and yes the cake went down very well, it was huge but it all disappeared, I even made some brandy truffles with the left over icing!
Oh, weird! I can't imagine how that's going to look. It looks like it's going to block the view of L' Arch de Triumph with the obelisk in front of it from Les Tuileries. But I bet the view from the ferris wheel is going to be awesome!
Oh, I know right where this is! How cool! Are there other ferris wheels to the right and left, or are those just side pieces to the large in the center?
Really like this shot Helene. The ferris wheel construction is fascinating. Any idea when it's likely to be finished. Making several visits to Paris next year, Don't want to miss it - Hilarix!!
