I know I can't do nice night pictures with my point & shot, no flash, no tripod, in the middle of the streets but tonight I wanted to photograph the ferris wheel place de la Concorde ( http://365project.org/parisouailleurs/365/2010-11-18).
I took many pictures and this one is the "least worst". I don't like it because this place could be stunning with the right camera. So I spent a lot of time looking at my old pictures and I can't help it I have to upload it.
Why? Because the story behind it (almost) makes me laugh. Due to the bad weather this days I don't take my 2 buses to go home but rather take the metro. So I went out at the Concorde station, spent 10 mns outside with a little rain and then took the metro again... except that when I saw a lot of people going outside I looked up and realised I was at the opposite from where i wanted to be... took the right line but not the right direction! Oh nothing really bad: just more than 20 stations!!!!
PS: This picture was taken from the top of the FW, 2 years ago but at the place: http://365project.org/parisouailleurs/365/2010-12-20
Living between Paris and the countryside, love taking pictures, a lot of pictures...

i love this photo. sometimes it's the photo you get, whether you're completely happy with it or not, that makes all the minutiae of the day worthwhile :)
It looks darn good to me and I have only been to paris once in actuality but probably a hundred times with you! Excellent night shot, even more so when I realise this was done without a tripod.
It's all about the memories and this shot captures those memories for you. It's still a good shot especially considering it's at night, with a P&S and no tripod. Excellent!
Such a great story Helene. It was so fun to go back and look at the picture of the ferris wheel under construction. I remember when you posted that, and I was so amazed because I had never really thought about the building of the ferris wheel, just the riding of them. I think the picture is a wonderful capture. Thank you for sharing something with us that we would never have the opportunity to see!
Ouch! Long day, but what a lovely detour. I'm grateful for it as this is a place my French teacher described to us in detail, but I am realizing this is the first I've ever seen it. As beautiful as he said!
And you just took it with a point and shoot?! Wow!! it looks very nice
:-D And here I am struggeling to shoot with an exstra flash to my camera!! Ha ha
Very Nice ,..... iv been in that situation before ,... i just frame it up set the time focus it and let it shoot ,... some times you get luck sometimes you dont ( or almost knock you camera off the ledge lol)
it's really beautiful! interesting that you aren't happy with it and so many of us think it's wonderful. :p ... it just as well that i don't have a decent bus system nearby or i'd never end up where i'm supposed to be. seriously, though, i wish we did have better public transportation over here.
I like this shot, you look to be in the middle of the road, with the cars headed for you LOL, I like the lighting on the other structure. A closer view of the lit farriswheel would have been great too. :-)
Oh no! Haha, that sounds like something I would do! I think this is a great shot. I also use and point and shoot and I have problems taking night shots, too, but I think this turned out beautifully.
And I'm laughing about your metro story. That is so something I would do.
:-D And here I am struggeling to shoot with an exstra flash to my camera!! Ha ha
