Oh, how fascinating, Helene! When I was in Paris, we were told about the "beach" on the Seine riverbank! They said that once all the sand is brought in and the beach is created, everyone comes down and has a great time! It sounded like fun, but I had a hard time imagining what it could possibly look like. And now... you have solved that mystery for me! I looked at the photos in your blog, too. What a very cool thing to do!
