@noragentian for the film challenge (see tag: film-challenge2012) got out old cameras and have been collecting a few more on eBay. Have been experimenting along with a number of others. Film is relatively cheap on eBay, depending on type, and even got some Agfa Vista the other day for two dollars a roll at local developing shop. It costs about $7 dollars a roll to be developed than I scan myself. Film has a quite different range of colors and depending on camera can come out totally retro. Have found that some of the macros using film camera have a totally different film. You should get out you old camera and have a go. I find it is also sharpening my skills with digital
