Saw this colorful hinge on the back of a an old sheepherder's wagon today. It looks like somebody at one time had painted the upper part of the wagon, including the hinges, a sunny yellow color. What's left of the yellow paint, the green floor boards and the rust all made for a very pleasing color palette to my eye.
Love this Lisa. this is texture city. Not often we can say we love rust and peeling paint but when it comes to photographs they are wonderful. Great shot.
I love catching close-ups of old rusty hinges and door parts. You captured an excellent one here. It has great character. It's as if it's saying, "I may be old, but I'm still attractive!" Well done!
@masosy Thank you so much for the fav, Kate! I am such a noob at processing.... my editing usually means hitting the "I'm feeling lucky" button on Picasa, which is what I did here. I think that brightened and saturated it a bit.
Old hinges make a pleasing subject, maybe because the two sides are almost reflections of each other. Then add great paint and great wood grain and you get a heckuva photo. A very pleasing fav.
I love the textures and the way you've composed the shot.
Just love it :-) Fav
