I was excited to head out early this morning with the goal of finding a snowy landscape shot. I parked near a walking trail to a nature preserve and when I got out of my car heard the distinct (and unpleasant!) sound of air rushing out of my tire. In a matter of seconds, it was completely flat. Long story short, I never made it to the nature preserve. Rather, as I waited in the parking lot for help, I noticed this snowy fence. Figuring I had better take what was likely going to be my only opportunity for a photo today, I shot that fence from every angle possible. This one was the most unconventional perspective and while it likely breaks every rule of composition, I quite like it.
I quite like it as well. The title is totally right for the shot. Well done. .....hope you didn't have to wait in the cold too long for some kind soul to sort your tyre for you !!
Interesting image, Lisa! I like the reference to the Sawtooth mountains and thanks for the back-story. Bummer, but sounds like you did an excellent job of making lemonade out of lemons!
Perfect title and I like the perspective - it turned out well.
So sorry about the flat tire - it was obviously cold and I hope you didn't have to wait too long for help.
Brilliant pov, it almost looks abstract!
The contrast between the fence and the sky is great :-)
Sorry about the tyre, but you've definitely got a silver lining to your cloud
Its a Fav for me :-)
Forget rules.. it's like how i write my poetry.. a scholar would turn red for sure.. this is simply gorgeous.. the lines, colors, everything just works so well!!
I love it Lisa. The black and white and blue combo is stunning. The fence on the left has so much texture with the snow on it, it's quite striking. Sorry to hear about your tire.
Fantastic pov, it makes a really interesting photo, love all the lines and how it pops against the blue sky. Sorry to hear about the car, hope its now sorted.
@stu_b Thank you so much for your comment and fav, Stu. I am thrilled you like the photo. Your support and encouragement in this project is much appreciated!
So sorry about the tire- but good for you you made the most of the situation. As far as I can see even though this is a very creative perspective, it still falls in the rule of thirds. It's got a strong and dynamic composition- well done!
Been there, done that. I had a flat tire parked in the snow at a trailhead near Afton, Wyoming on a camera club field trip. You're right, this is an unconventional photo, but it catches your eye, then you enjoy details like the snow spots. It reminds me of an old mower blade.
