Sawtooth Sky by pflaume

Sawtooth Sky

I was excited to head out early this morning with the goal of finding a snowy landscape shot. I parked near a walking trail to a nature preserve and when I got out of my car heard the distinct (and unpleasant!) sound of air rushing out of my tire. In a matter of seconds, it was completely flat. Long story short, I never made it to the nature preserve. Rather, as I waited in the parking lot for help, I noticed this snowy fence. Figuring I had better take what was likely going to be my only opportunity for a photo today, I shot that fence from every angle possible. This one was the most unconventional perspective and while it likely breaks every rule of composition, I quite like it.
What an awesome pov! I just love the lines and textures.

I quite like it as well. The title is totally right for the shot. Well done. .....hope you didn't have to wait in the cold too long for some kind soul to sort your tyre for you !!

Brilliant pov, it almost looks abstract!
The contrast between the fence and the sky is great :-)

Oh poor you, a flat tyre is no fun at all, but you made the best of it and got an interesting shot.

Awesome shot! You'll never look at a fence the same way - "flat tire" will spring to mind, unfortunately.

I love it Lisa. The black and white and blue combo is stunning. The fence on the left has so much texture with the snow on it, it's quite striking. Sorry to hear about your tire.

How simple is this? How effective is this? How jealous am I? How many more questions am I going to ask?

Perfect title for an excellently composed shot.

So sorry about the tire- but good for you you made the most of the situation. As far as I can see even though this is a very creative perspective, it still falls in the rule of thirds. It's got a strong and dynamic composition- well done!

Been there, done that. I had a flat tire parked in the snow at a trailhead near Afton, Wyoming on a camera club field trip. You're right, this is an unconventional photo, but it catches your eye, then you enjoy details like the snow spots. It reminds me of an old mower blade.

Sorry about your thwarted outing - but this is an unusual and creative shot - works really well.
February 25th, 2013
