I love the view to the plateau in the distance. As of a few years ago, it was to slated to be developed into a new neighborhood. However, thanks to the downturn in the U.S. housing market, the developer abandoned his plans and our city had the opportunity to purchase and preserve the land. Thankfully, it will now belong to the wildlife that roam the area.
B&W Wednesdays - for anyone who is interested in joining me, I intend to make Wednesdays a black & white photography day. I thought we could tag our photos 'b&ww' so that we can easily view each other's great shots. I will send out a message to the the 365 community, too.
I am off to Washington D.C. tomorrow to see my older son compete in the National Science Bowl. I will try my best to post and keep up with your albums while I am away. My apologies in advance if I am slow to comment for the next few days.
Nice one. So GLAD the developer abandoned his plans for more homes.... Much nicer having an open space where te wildlife can live in peace. I wish your son good luck in the Science Bowl competition.
wonderful that this little piece of the world has been preserved for nature and wildlife - great shot - love straight and curved barbed wire and the light is marvellous - have a good time away :o)
Lisa, you are headed my way! I live just outside DC. Great photo and I am interested in the B&W W. Have a safe trip and enjoy DC. Best of luck to your son!!.
@sjwyatt30 Thank you so much for good wishes! It's an exciting experience for sure. How cool that you live in the DC area. There must be so many things to do and explore. We are staying in Bethesda which is where the competition is held but do plan on some sightseeing too.
This is so pretty, Lisa! Love the curve of the wire and the tones in this shot. Beautiful, as always! Oh - tagging b&ww takes you to the b page of shots, so you might want to designate a different tag.
Instant fav Lisa! The composition and tones are beautiful. How wonderful that the land won't be developed, it looks like a beautiful spot. I will try to join the B&WW theme.
@emrob thanks for the heads up about the tag. Glad I never got around to messaging the whole community!! Do you think 'bww' would work? No '&' sign. I am surfing and commenting on my phone with painfully slow connection speeds so its hard to for me to see options. :(
Fabulous shot. congrats on the pp! and good luck to your son in the national science bowl! What an honor! What's his project? Oh and SO glad the land now belongs to the wildlife!!! yay!
That expansive vista seen through the barbed wire is quite genius. And the vista won :-p. I appreciate your view and skill, keep up the good work, girl.
Oh and best of luck to the boy! Enjoy Washington
This is gorgeous, Lisa, and an easy fav.
Wish you a very nice time and succes for your son!
