My town sits in a little valley partially surrounded by these hills we refer to as "foothills", because they are at the foot of higher mountains further north. To some they might look rather barren, with little vegetation other than desert scrub bushes, but to me they are beautiful, constantly changing depending on the light and season. I noticed the last light of day striking the hills on my drive home and stopped the car for a few photos.
This was beautiful in color but I thought the light and shadow play lent itself well to black and white, too. More fun to be had experimenting with Nik Silver Efex.
I was away from the computer all day so have missed your photos. Posting now for Friday (so that I don't slip further behind) and then off to bed. I'll be by tomorrow to see what I missed! Goodnight all!
great choice to go with B/W ... not sure how the color version looks but this version emphasizes the contrasts and shades so well .... great light.. as if it is sculpting the hills ... awesome viewed large ... easy Fav!!
Beautiful, in the b & w version the accent is more on the shapes and adds more drama, but also like the colored version very much ! The stunning colors of the hills...
A beautiful shot in b&w which I think really brings out the light and shadows. Amazing to think that you live near here - it almost looks moonscapish. Great capture.
