It's long been on my photography to do list to learn how to create an HDR image. This is one of my first attempts and I am really pleased with it. It's exciting to be able to capture the full range of light and details in a scene like this. I can see myself looking for more HDR opportunities in the future!
I took a drive on a back road that follows the route of the Oregon Trail wagon trains. Along the way I came across this abandoned house. Not brave enough to go inside - too many critters squeaking!! - I took this photo looking in through an open window opposite of the one I photographed. This is a 5 shot HDR processed in Photomatix's "Merge to 32 bit Plug-in for Lightroom." For those in the market for HDR software, the Lightroom Plug-in is a great option. It's $29 versus the $99 price of the full Photomatix software. It is very easy to use and you do the tone mapping in LR.
Fabulous shot. That's the beauty of HDR. The availability to show the image as you see it, nothing under or overexposed. You've done a great job here because you've not over processed it.
Great use of HDR and I love the composition. Will look into that plug in. I've played around trying yo do this in GIMP but, as is usually the case with me and GIMP, I can't get the results I want. Fav. Thanks for the lovely comments on my project yesterday
Wow - a fabulous first attempt and I had to fav it.
I like that it doesn't 'scream' HDR. Some overdo it making the overall effect look unreal.
Really well done! It's on my bucket list to try HDR as well.
This is great Lisa. Just when I have all but decided I am NOT a fan of HDR and will not be taking any steps in that direction … this makes me wonder if I should reconsider! Seems to look much more real and less fake than most I have seen. Really well done.
The window looks like a painting...
