I had planned something totally different for today's shot (... when I eventually got around to it; I've been in a very lazy/procrastinatingish mood lately), but I give you this instead.
It wasn't even my idea - my mum called me from the kitchen and said "Quick, get your camera!" This guy was perched on the fence for ages, mum theorises, because they had just knocked down that property, and vast expanses of new soil - full of juicy, ready-to-eat worms - were suddenly revealed. As I was taking photos of him, his little head moved and tilted from side to side ever so slightly every few seconds, presumably scanning for his lunch. :D

I love these birds, and really enjoyed the kookaburra's call when I was over in Sydney a few years back, so so cute :-)
Lovely photo, I like the repetiveness of the fences, and the way the bird seems to be contemplating his next move... I wonder if he pooped on that lovely clean washing? lol.
The framing makes it feel like a lonely or thoughtful kookaburra. The kookaburra's call is one of my most distinct memories of visiting the Sydney area.
