Here's the deal Teresa: i want to know how you do most of your food pics. It's all because of the 50mm prime? If so i must get one asap! The DOF here is suberb! I love the wine, blue and brown tones in the background and how they ressonate with the dessert tones too. A wonderful fav for my list.
Well, drop your secret: i want to know how to get a soft dreamy look to the photo. I seem always to go the opposite direction: sharp, crisp pics. Thanks in advance.
@gabrielklee lol!! I believe it is definitely my 50mm f/1.4 prime :) and you have to pick the right point to focus or else it looks weird, because the depth of focus is so insanely shallow! :)
@pocketmouse f1.4 is the expensive prime, isn't it? Canon has a f1.8 50mm that is unexpensive and another onw costing an awful lot of money, if i recall correctly. Your's the expensive one. Does the price really pays up to the quality?
@gabrielklee Yes, that's right. The f/1.8 is good, and very cheap for its great quality, but the filter size is only 52 mm and so I find the photos are a bit cramped (frame doesn't fit enough in). The f/1.4 is about 3 times the price, but definitely definitely worth it. It's beautiful :)
@pocketmouse thanks. i will try someday. i guess.
I don't know if i get a prime, a big zoom (like 75-300).
My dream is to have a wide angle, but they are outrageously expensive.
@gabrielklee Don't get me wrong, the 50mm f/1.8 can get some amazing food shots too, and if you don't have the budget for the f/1.4 then I strongly suggest getting the f/1.8 :)
Yummy shot!
