@hudd Thanks. I've always thought this kind of seaweed looks like unwound piles of tape from the old cartridges that would get hung up and have to be pulled out and rewound. It glistens in the same plastic way to me.

It is oviously the nature of stringy things. If you leave rope or wires or string neatly arranged, while you back is turned it weaves itself into a cat's cradle. This picture has a nice seasidy feel about it.
