At this week’s First Thursday (gallery openings) my amazing friend Marie showed I’m guessing around 30 quilts she’s made in the past few years since she serously took up quilting and started building one of the biggest stashes around. The pieces are just full of Marie’s beautiful energy and love of color. The best part of how they were shown was that she displayed them in a Bed Mart store where all the quilts were spread out on real beds. It magically became the world’s prettiest dorm room. My phone shots of the full room don’t look very good, but this is a sample of one of Marie’s creations. The full room was wondrous to behold.
@hown - don't believe she has so far; btw, my 7/11 and 7/15 shots are from Sisters. Don't know if it's this way everywhere, but quilting is such a huge thing here - I'm one of the few nonquilters I think. Love them though.
My college roommate has become a master quilter. I am in awe of her artistry. I wish I could have seen your friend's full exhibit. What an imaginative way to display them.
I do some sewing, but have never tried quilting. it looks very labor intensive!
