Dreams of the Velodrome

Had to take shelter in a tunnel on the way to work today when the heaven's suddenly opened. Luckily I had my iphone so took the opportunity to watch the Brownlee Bros dominate the Triathlon. Then noticed my new tyre was quite topical before spending the afternoon working/watching the crazy excitement going on in the Velodrome. Will 50 be too old to make Team GB for Rio?
Awesome finish to a great race! Nice wheel!

Ha ha it was an exhausting afternoon no? I think that pootling along the canal might not be sufficient training. We should try to get tickets though!!

very topical - you could make the team in the sailing or riding at 50 - depending on the boat you choose

Is the Velodrome where they had a bike race between two men. They were pushed at the start. I've never seen that before. It reminded me of a very slow Austin Powersesque race. It was very strange. What's the name of that competition?

@dmortega all the indoor cycling was held in the Velodrome, including the Keirin where the cyclists have to follow a guy on a moped for 6 laps first. Strange sport, but very, very exciting

Nice one for today - fab cycling! @fueast I'm so Olympic feverish, I've been trying to persuade Dave we need to go to Rio! And now I'm thinking about the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow ...
August 7th, 2012
@boxplayer we should take a Team 365 to Rio for 365!
August 7th, 2012
@boxplayer Yorkshire is 11th in the table with 5 golds. Independence now!
August 7th, 2012

Just thinking about it makes me tyred ;-) What a serendipitous thing to have noticed!

Ok, so I looked it up. It was Track Cycling that I was watching. It's not one I've seen before. I don't know why but it's something to see. ;-)

Sue
no fun peddling in the rain...brakes don't work - glad you found a tunnel to shelter in and I hope the cars empty the sidewalks on you going by.thats no fun either! lol - nice cropping of your front tire!

Wicked!! Been wondering what I can do for 2016. Some of the horse riders are proper old - don't much like horses though. I did briefly think that if I raise my saddle a bit I might be able to go all out in the cycling - then the G&T wore off and reality dawned. I'm poised and ready just as soon as they bring in the 'forward roll' category in the gymnastics though....

@judithg have you seen the fences in the equestrian events? Genius!
August 8th, 2012
About 5ft too big though - I'd have to get over without the horse!

Just keep on training! Enjoyed this shot and commentary even though I missed the Olympic action.
