Sunday, May 3, 2020 - The Calm After The Derecho

Middle Tennessee just can't seem to catch a break this year. Sunday afternoon around 4:30pm, on the two month anniversary of the deadly March 3rd tornado in Nashville, one of the strongest thunderstorms in Tennessee's history moved through. A fast-moving derecho with wind gusts over 75 mph damaged much of the city and surrounding areas once again. While it wasn't a tornado this time, the fierce winds were just as bad and caused my power to be out for nearly 24 hours (and 100,000+ are still without power). Most traffic lights were out, and almost every road had at least one tree down. I came across several trees that had fallen on houses. Many people in the area were seriously injured, and tragically a firefighter in my county was killed. Sadly, I didn't have my camera with me during this whole event, but this was the sunset after the derecho passed through. The calm after a chaotic day!
So sorry to read about this, I hope your family and friends are safe and recovering from this event. Great shot though.
