This is collage of an evening walk Bekki and I took today (31st) We met the dog I mentioned in one of my other photos, the very handsome Weimaraner. http://365project.org/sabresun/365/2011-03-25 It came bounding across the same field and greeted me again (and met Bekki too) Then ran off having successfully completed its social obligations ;) I had to take a photo of him, but it wasn't easy as he was too active and ended up quite a distance away. Top left is about the best I could manage with a lot of zoom and a rapid shutter speed.
The bull we met next, while attempting to get past a small herd of cows to get to the field where the disused caravan sits like a folly by the riverside. It's weird how the first thing you think of when entering a field full of cows is, "Okay, nice cows, now where's the bull?" At least I do. The bull took a very long, very steady look at us, so much so that Bekki wasn't at all keen on trying to get past him, but we did in the end. It's not that easy to see, but he actually had a 'Wanna be friends?" face when I looked back at the shot. At the time, I wasn't so sure! Not actually that intimidating. I think the cows wanted to leave the field and were hanging around for the farmer to show up, and he (the bull) was more curiously disappointed that we weren't the ones opening the gate to home and a bag of crunchy oats.
The bottom three pictures were taken on the walk back, by which time the light was dimming quickly. At this point I was driven increasingly with the anticipation of having a bowl of cereal and a coffee when we got back, before heading off to the local supermarket for a weekly food shop. I want to go back at some point and get a better shot of that little blue shed. Well, next time. :)
Loved your story, and really love your collage...that bottom middle tree is just fantastic, as is the camper by the water. All of the photos are great, and I can't believe you got this on just one walk.
That dog really is a fine example of the breed. He was so healthy and full of energy. I love that he recognized you from across the field and came running over immediately to say hello again. I found it particularly interesting that he paused upon seeing you with the camera (getting ready to take a few shots) as if thinking very hard. Then suddenly a light coming on and him remembering you, at least that is the way I saw it.
Thank you for going on an adventure with me today.
Thanks for the nice walk! I've learned something too... always look for the bull when walking through a pasture full of cows, which is something I've never done. Good job!
What beautiful walking opportunities you have! Amazing to capture TWO animals standing still! That's one handsome dog! And the bull does look friendly though I'd err on the side of caution too when in the actual field! :)
Thank you for going on an adventure with me today.
