Magpie by sabresun

Magpie

One for sorrow, two for joy.

I did see the second magpie also, as they travel in pairs. It flew off into some nearby high treetops where it promptly disappeared, the pair may have had a minor tiff. This one I took through a barbed wire hedge (it seemed to be mulling over something) and when I did cross into the field to try to get some better shots, just as I was about to press the shutter button, it flew off too muttering something about dandelions being equally terrible camouflage and eating. Always the way, dandelions will never be shiny.
As long as there were two !! All those Dandelion clocks ! ! They are very striking birds though & I do like them even though they are seen as a bit of a pest.

@scooter Really? Oh, they're well known in the UK and have quite a few folk sayings associated with them. They also are known for their love of collecting shiny objects.

What a beautiful photo and bird. Quite different to the Australian magpie. Yours has a longer tail and shorter beak.
