Took Bekki to the airport very early this morning, and arrived to catch the 6am flight. I think the time on my camera must be jet lagged, as this was around 4.50 am. I managed to take two photos (neither up to much. This was the better one) and was given quizzical looks by both Anne and Bekki in such a way as , "MATT, what the heck are you doing, don't you know how little time we have to catch the flight?!" I know, I knew, but I still wanted to record the departure even with the constraining time limits.
Inside the airport, we magically changed pounds into dollars, then quite unmagically (Wingardium Leviosa didn't work) walked the entire length of 'departures' to check in Bekki's luggage at the correct 'Self check-in' area as we had entered at the wrong entrance (this always seems to happen somehow) with 5 minutes to spare before the plane was boarding. Phew!! The 'Drop off' car parking fee was the usual extortionate rate costing £7 ($10.5) for 30 mins. Birmingham airport really stings you that way, along with the equal sting of separation.
Anyhow, thankfully, Bekki did catch her flight on time which is the start of a 24hr multi-stop journey to Dallas (via Birmingham - Amsterdam - Minneapolis - 'Hello Dallas')
I would've been a panicky wreck with only 5 min to spare! Now that's what you call perfect timing. Lots of stops to make, but hopefully she has a good trip, and I hope the separation isn't for long.
I have many interesting thoughts on my trip..most of them humorous and I had a pretty uneventful trip (The 6.5 hour layover in St Paul, Minnesota and the crazy taxi ride from Dallas airport notwithstanding)
"Hello world" How appropriate for an airport!
$10 for 30 mins? Think yourself lucky! Melbourne airport slugs you something like $40/hour! Most expensive airport parking in the world, I hear!
So, when you comin' Stateside then? Huh?
Goodbyes are the worst thing ever!!! You managed to get an interesting shot under what sounds like very stressful circumstances! Love the processing too!!
Who loves you? I DO I DO!
