The same tower as the previous photo, but this time from a safer distance! It's actually a telecommunications tower, and is one of the few towers built in Britain made of reinforced concrete. Pye Green was constructed as part of the British Cold War "Backbone" radio communications network (hence why it is designed to withstand a Nuclear bomb blast)
Its combination of elevation and height give it line-of-sight to the British Telecom Tower which is situated in Birmingham some twenty miles away.
At some point in the week, I want drive by to get a closer shot of it.
So much less ominous in this photo, what with the blue sky and green trees. That's quite a strong tower...no wonder it looks so different from the others.
I wonder what sort of trees those are? Looks like a lot of explorable territory there. I love how those happy colours totally change the tone of the tower from the previous shot.
