The Danish Girl.

'A fictitious love story loosely inspired by the lives of Danish artists Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener. Lili and Gerda's marriage and work evolve as they navigate Lili's groundbreaking journey as a transgender pioneer.'

My thoughts -

Beautifully and sensitively filmed, and acted. Each and every shot is lovingly crafted (with some very good performances throughout) yet perhaps it is all a little too so. It all becomes somewhat more noticeable as the pace is slow. This is such a fragile love story in many ways and a tragic one, and the fact that it is told from that perspective continually can make it a bit of an endurance to sit through. It's like having a confidential conversation with a friend who is struggling with something that is beyond that moment and its time. it's hard not to feel emotional by the end of it, and you're left waiting at any point for the egg shell to hit the floor. When it does, you realise that it could probably never have been caught in Copenhagen, 1926. Still, having said that, there is a resolution and an acceptance found by being witness to it.
Cool picture.
