About 15 years ago, I verbally accepted a job in Wilmington that would mean I would only be home on weekends. That night, when speaking with my son (about age 8 at the time), he told me it was OK that I would not be able to see his baseball games during the weekday and that we would still get to see each other on the weekends. That message still cuts through me today.
The next morning, I apologetically declined the offer. Now, my son lives in Pennsylvania and Wilmington has become the mid-point where my wife and I meet him for quick weekend same day visits.
It seems I was destined to spend time in Wilmington eventually.
wow ... what a story ... admire the choice you made Scott ... BTW ... Wilmington figured in my career (travelled there few times) as the Astrazeneca headquarters during my Medimmune stint not so far back :-)
