Cold Night Settles In by sbolden

Cold Night Settles In

Cleared my driveway with the snowblower today but there is no where to go as our street is impassible. This was taken at the end of my driveway as the sun went down. Supposed to be 5 degrees Fahrenheit (-15 Celsius) tonight. Maybe we will see a snow plow tomorrow.
Beautiful chilly view. What effect is going in here?

@amandal Thanks... It's primarily ToonCamera, an app on my iPad. Fun to play with.

Looks just like ours. Stay safe and warm!

Wow, that looks surreal! Hope you and your family stay warm and safe.
January 25th, 2016
I bet you gave your snow blower a hug when you were done...

Beautiful shot - love your processing! So good for this scene. Colors and light are terrific. Can't imagine the height of that snow - sure going to take some melting that won't take place at 5 degrees! Can't see how even a snow plow gets through that. Glad you didn't lose power.

That is just so much snow, and at that temp its heart attack material it's so heavy! Pretty impressive.

Very cool processing. Definitely a stay at home day.

Beautiful photo.

so beautiful and peaceful looking. Looks like you have power, at least. Stay warm! We didn't get any of that snow and I must say, I'm bummed about that.

We are hearing on the news about the cold in the US. Stay safe!
January 25th, 2016
Wow!! That is a lot of snow! Good luck with getting some snow plows!
January 25th, 2016
Beautiful shot! I just can't imagine living where it snows!
January 25th, 2016
Wow... so much snow! Great shot.
January 25th, 2016
Heaps of snow - your driveway looks good!
January 25th, 2016
Great job with your driveway! What a scene!
January 25th, 2016
Yikes, that's a lot of snow! Neat processing.
January 25th, 2016
Brrrrrr....and a bit overwhelming to think about all the plowing yet to be done.
January 25th, 2016
Sure looks cold! Hope they get the road plowed out soon.
January 25th, 2016
Wow, that's amazing. Keep warm.
January 25th, 2016
Oh my! We get a thin layer (less than an inch and schools are shut! I can understand here. Keep safe as it sounds horrendous if you are not prepared or infirm. Beautiful if you can play out, and if not it is a great time to do all the jobs in the house that never get done. Lovely picture BTW.

Rolf - sorry but you have to admit that is funny.
January 25th, 2016
Wow, that looks quite deep. It's hard to comprehend for someone in the middle of a scorching summer...lol Beautiful shot though.
January 25th, 2016
Wow, love this. Amazing amount of snow. Stay warm

There's something so wonderful about God himself saying "STAY HOME."
January 25th, 2016
Really like this, almost black and white...
January 25th, 2016
This photo really shows the depth of that snow. Fantastic photo showing great detail & content. Fave.
January 25th, 2016
Fascinating!
January 25th, 2016
Very evocative shot. Even though it is of nasty snow. We were like that last year. A couple of neighbors lined up their snowblowers and cleared the road.

That is a wonderful image. Its a FAV

Sue
Very tranquil winter scene
January 25th, 2016
Wow! That is a lot of snow!
January 25th, 2016
This is just incredible. And really quite pretty -- for those of us who don't get snow, I'm sure it's not so much so to you! Question --Why did you snowblower your driveway when your street is impassable and you can't go anywhere anyway?? Just wondering!!
January 26th, 2016
mind boggling...totally mind boggling...fav
January 26th, 2016
@aglennc Thanks Anita. It can take quite a while (an hour or so by snowblower, perhaps all day with a single individual shoveling) to just clear ones cars and driveway of snow. So you want to have that done such that when the streets are plowed, you're ready to go. Also, if you don't shovel/snow blow soon after the storm, it can harden like cement making it more difficult to remove. We're still hoping to be freed this week but at least we have power!
January 26th, 2016
@sbolden Interesting. I learned something today. Thanks for explaining. Would never have guess it would harden like that. How long have you been out of power? Wow -- you guys back there are having double doses of everything. We heard about the power outages. Hope you've stayed warm.
