I have a new toy - a Leica 45mm F2.8 Macro lens. It is really different to use than my other lenses, so it is going to take some practice before I feel comfortable using it. But I think is is going to be fun. Just wanted to share my first attempts - any advice on what I should be doing from those that have a macro lens?
I'm so pleased that you have taken the plunge and bought a macro lens - it will become your favourite piece of kit I suspect!
This is a cracking start - what a super image!
Advice - play about with different apertures so that you can get more, or less, in focus. I always use a tripod with my 105mm macro lens; you may find that you are OK with the 45mm but it is worth trying. I also use manual focus all the time.
i'm really looking forward to more macro shots from you, Ms Mc(ro)Phail!!
Andy - I will keep your suggestion of a tripod in mind - some of the pictures I took today (not shown here) I was actually right down on the ground. I was using manual focus - that takes a bit of getting used to, I think. So much to learn and try! Thank you for your positive comment - much appreciated!
