If there was any doubt that what I am doing by helping in the library was not a good thing, that was dispelled today in spades! I was walking along a hall delivering the next batch of Forest of Reading books to some classes when there was flurry of voices calling out to me. More students had the books they had finished and wanted to give them to me so they could get new ones. One dear sweet little girl, as she handed me her book said, "My mother's father is dying and this book really helped me." I totally choked up - so much so that the nearby teacher asked me if I was okay.
It's called The Last Goodbye by Elin Kelsey which shares the many ways animals mark the death of their own. The power of the written word - who knows when or where it will have an impact - but it does!! I am humbled to be where I am, doing what I do....
