This is the first day of Passover. This is the only kind of bread I'll be able to eat for the next week.
Well meaning non-Jewish friends of mine will often tell me just how much they enjoy matzah. I appreciate the fact that their intentions are good. But trust me - when this is the only bread you get to eat, the deliciousness wears out pretty quickly.
But the point of Passover is to remember our history and to appreciate our freedom. Eating matzah instead of bread for a week is an effective reminder of the fact that we shouldn't take our freedom for granted.
