I had posted a photo of this lens earlier. But after I posted it, I saw some things about the picture that I wanted to shoot differently. So here's my re-take.
When I was in high school, I worked in my father's office. One year I wanted to buy myself a stereo. This dates me, but at the time stereos with 8-track players (look 'em up kiddies. And yes, they were as horrible as they sound) were common, but stereos with cassette players had just come out, and that's what I wanted. I believe they cost something in the area of $250 at the time, and I saved up several weeks worth of pay until the day that I could go to the mall and come home with my brand new stereo. It wasn't fancy, but it was a nice system that I used for many years thereafter.
Well, for the last several months I had been coveting an ultra wide angle lens. They're not cheap, and until I started working I really couldn't justify the purchase. But after banking a couple of paychecks, I decided that I could afford to take the plunge and buy one. So Sunday morning I took myself into the City and marched into B&H Photo to buy my new lens. It reminded me of going to the mall that day in high school, and in some ways it was just as momentous a purchase. Except I hope to be using this lens for even longer than that old stereo.
Awsome, jealous I am, you can go to B&H and you were able to buy an ultra wide, good for you, I can't decide what I want more, the low light 70-200 f2.8 or a 10-12mm prime, its really tough to decide, hehe
Thanks Kerri :)
It depends on what you like shooting. The 70-200 would be a sweet lens for your son's racing events....
